As a recipient of federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, Clinton Township is required to complete an Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice (AoI). To meet this requirement, the township hired the Fair Housing Center of Metropolitan Detroit to complete this analysis.

The Fair Housing Center of Metropolitan Detroit has completed its research for and drafting of an AoI for Clinton Township. The AoI will assist the Township in developing or improving fair housing strategies and efforts to overcome impediments that prevent or restrict Clinton Township residents from housing opportunities and choices.

On December 18, 2023, the AoI was reviewed and approved at a public meeting by the Clinton Township Board of Trustees. Prior to submitting the AoI to HUD, the Township is providing an additional 30-day period for public comments concerning the AoI. This 30-day comment period will begin February 12, 2024.

The township welcomes comments and suggestions concerning the analysis, recommendations, and deadlines contained in the AoI. The AoI will be available for review at the Department of Planning and Community Development, 40700 Romeo Plank Rd., Clinton Township, MI 48038 and comments can be mailed to that same address. The document will also be posted on the township website,, and comments may also be submitted by email to Matt Wallace at
