Arboretum Committee

There are 3 terms open on the Arboretum Committee The committee holds terms of two years with an expiration of October 1, 2021


Responsibilities

The committee meets monthly during the afternoon or on an as-needed basis at the Civic Center.  The purpose of the committee is to oversee and advance the development and utilization of an approximate 25-acre parcel permanent public arboretum park primarily accessed at the easterly edge of 18 Mile Road, bounded by Canal Road.  The group will raise private funding to finance the development, all subject to the approval of the Township Board of Trustees.   Members must be residents of the township, or a representative of a long-established organization or business located within the township.

Beautification Committee

Responsibilities

The committee meets the first Thursday of the month, 5:00 p.m.,  The purpose of the committee is to initiate, promote, and coordinate the beautification efforts within Clinton Township.

Downtown Development Authority 

Current Openings

There is 1 term open on the DDA.  The Authority holds terms of Four years with an expiration of January 5, 2024. Applicant MUST reside, or have property interest within the District Lines (see map below). 


Responsibilities

The committee meets the third Wednesday bimonthly at 7:30 a.m. The authority was created pursuant to Act 197.  The Authority shall be a public body corporate under the authority of the Township.   The Authority may adopt a seal, may sue and be sued in any court of this State and shall possess all the power necessary to carry out the purpose of its incorporation as provided by Act 197 and Ordinance 338.

Compensation Commission

Current Openings
There is 1 term up for election on the Compensation Commission. This is a five-year term to
expire on August 14, 2026.


Responsibilities

The Commission shall determine the salary of each Township elected official unless the Township Board by resolution adopted by two thirds of the members elected to and serving on the Board rejects the determination. The Commission shall meet not more than fifteen session days in each odd number year.

Historical Commission

Current Openings

There are 2 terms open on the Historical Commission. The commission holds terms of three years with an expiration of April 13, 2024.


Responsibilities

The committee meets the fourth Monday of the month, 6:00 p.m., at the Clinton Macomb Public Library Local History Room. The commission shall be responsible for the general administration of the Township historical site and any and all other historical properties and shall acquire, collect and exhibit in the name of the Township all necessary historical documents, materials, equipment and other things necessary for the effective operation of the Township’s historical sites.

Planning Commission

Current Openings

There are 3 terms open on the Planning Commission. The commission holds terms of three years with an expiration of November 30, 2024.


Responsibilities

The commission is a nine (9) member board that advises township officials in matters of planning and development of the community, prepares plans and makes recommendations for land-use and the environment and provides citizen review and recommendations on planning-related matters to the Township Board.  The Planning Commission is responsible for the preparation and adoption of the Township Master Plan and provides recommendations to the Township Board on the Zoning Ordinance and development proposals the Planning Commission has reviewed.  The Planning Commission meets the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m.  Members must be a citizen residing in Clinton Township.  Members of the Planning Commission serve a 3 year term.

The committee meets on the second Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Clinton Township Civic Center.  The purpose of the committee shall be to preserve and maintain in an undisturbed and natural condition the watercourses, wetlands, floodplains, wildlife and other natural resources within the Township.

The committee meets the last Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.  The purpose of the committee is to cause and encourage cultural awareness that fosters open communication and positive interaction among citizens of the Township and to promote cultural diversity projects which may include, but are not limited to, such activities as brochures, pamphlets, festivals and other recommendations and reports that will be an aid to the Township and is citizens.

Economic Development Corporation

Current Openings

There is 1 partial term open on the Economic Development Corporation (EDC). The committee holds terms of six years with a partial term to expire as of July 10, 2023.


Responsibilities

The committee meets, as necessary on the second Tuesday of the month, 7:30 a.m., at the Township Civic Center, or as posted.  The purpose of the EDC is to encourage economic growth and development in the community, particularly industrial based.  It is also to review tax exemptions for industrial businesses.
