Weather Policy
Day Camp Program locations that are held entirely outdoors. Each location has a covered pavilion or shade structure available, but we do not have indoor facilities to use in the case of bad weather. The Day Camp Program will run rain or shine however, may close for severe weather. Severe weather may include, but is not limited to, a thunderstorm or tornado warning, extended storms, or lightning detected within range for a prolonged period of time. The Day Camp Program will not cancel for heat advisories- staff will make program adjustments, add cooling/water breaks, and utilize pavilions and shaded areas.
Clinton Township Recreation will use the National Weather Service and lightning detectors to monitor weather conditions. Since our Day Camp Program locations are spread across a large area, it is possible that not all locations will be affected by severe weather.
Notifications of Cancellation
In the case of a program cancellation, we will utilize these methods of communication; send direct emails and send out text/email notifications with our Remind101 account. You can find information on signing up for Remind101 emails or text your site code (see Day Camp page) to 81010.
If severe weather occurs when the program is already in session, participants will be brought under a pavilion until the weather clears or they are released from the program. If a cancellation is necessary during the program, staff will call parents/guardians, send emails, and a notification through Remind101. Children will not be permitted to leave the site during severe weather without approval from parents/guardians.
Refunds for the Day Camp Program are not offered for weather-related cancellations.
