9/11 ceremony to be held at Resurrection Cemetery’s American Veteran’s Memorial
CLINTON TOWNSHIP – On Monday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m., Clinton Township will hold its annual Patriot Day memorial service at Resurrection Cemetery, located at 18201 Clinton River Road in Clinton Township. The ceremony is open to the public.
The annual event recognizes and honors the men and women who perished due to the terrorist attacks against the United States. Guest speakers include Reverend Dr. David D. Dieter of Christ Church Detroit and Clinton Township EMS Chief John Gallagher.
“It’s important to remember those who perished on that sad day because it reminds us that evil exists, and we should always support our brave men and women who step up to defend our way of life,” said Township Supervisor and program host Bob Cannon.
Clinton Township’s Civic Center campus was the site of the first ceremony to honor the lives of those lost just three days after the attacks. Since then, Resurrection Cemetery has hosted as it does for events to recognize Veterans Day, Wreaths Across America, and Memorial Day.
The Patriot Day ceremony will include the Clinton Township Police Department Honor Guard and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 154 Honor Guard. In addition, Vanessa Carr will perform the National Anthem.
