CLINTON TOWNSHIP – Clinton Township is asking its residents to vote for a new logo. This week, a link will be added to the Township’s website inviting visitors to choose between two designs, which were among several offered by strategic planning partner OHM. “During our strategic planning stakeholder meetings, we spent time discussing our visual brand, including the logo,” said Clinton Township Deputy Supervisor Liz Vogel. “As a group, we considered more than ten logo designs, and narrowed the choice down to two that visually captured the Township’s strengths,” she said. Last fall, the Clinton Township Board of Trustees selected OHM Advisors to facilitate a strategic planning process, which began with data collection via a community survey. Stakeholder meetings were held next to discuss survey data and to gain feedback from those who live and work in the Township. Several priority projects emerged from the sessions. One, in particular, will focus on the Township’s brand identity, and ways to improve communication with residents. Vogel, a member of the Strategic Planning Committee, believes that communicating better with residents is ultimately tied to an overall marketing plan. “Branding and communication are aspects of a coordinated marketing plan,” she said. “Deciding on a newly designed logo, then promoting it is an important step to connect better the services we provide to those who use them.” Clinton Township Supervisor Bob Cannon looks forward to the public’s help in deciding on a logo, which will become the Township’s visual brand seen on buildings, signage, vehicles, and communication channels like the website, Facebook and YouTube. “We have top-rated schools, and hospitals, to go along with beautiful parks, and of course the three branches of the Clinton River practically define the township,” said Cannon. “And yet despite these positive attributes, our strategic planning feedback tells us Clinton Township lacks a clear brand and identity.” Cannon is pleased the Clinton River remains prominent in the new logo designs.
