As the Clinton Township Civic Center remains closed to the public due to the threat of COVID-19, the Clerk’s office has announced it will accept applications and payments for local candidates wishing to file for office.
“On the Clerk’s webpage, we’ve set up a convenient way for candidates to apply and make their payment,” said Township Clerk Kim Meltzer. “There are two forms to download and fill out,” she said. Candidates can find the forms at https://clintontownship.com/clerk--elections.html. There, they can download an Affidavit of Identity and Receipt of Filing form, and a One Time Credit Card Payment Authorization. Once completed, forms must be notarized. A public notary can be found at any open Huntington Bank or another participating bank. Huntington Bank requires an appointment. “The credit card option can be used to pay the $100 filing fee, and the form can be mailed or dropped into the box located outside the front doors at the Civic Center by the filing deadline, which is 4 p.m. on April 21,” Meltzer said. Candidates who apply will receive an email confirmation once their form of payment has been approved. Kim Meltzer, Clerk Charter Township of Clinton 40700 Romeo Plank Rd.
