Jenifer "Joie" West, Trustee
Jenifer "Joie" West was first elected to the Board of Trustees in November 2004. she was re-elected for a fifth term in November 2020.
Joie received a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees from Michigan State University. She previously served as the Executive Director for the Southeast Regional Area Health Education Center, serving nine counties in southeast Michigan.
Married to Marty, she has two grown children, Nick and Sandy. She is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys downhill skiing, camping, and exercising. She and her husband are huge Spartan football fans and have been fortunate to go to many of the recent bowl games. With a love for animals, she has one loving pet - a Chesapeake Bay retriever, Camper.
Career
In the past, she has worked as the Vice President of Government Relations at Strategic Health Care and as the Director of Public Affairs at Wayne State University School of Medicine Public Affairs Office. In addition, she was employed at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital (St. Joseph's Mercy of Macomb Hospital) as the Director of External Affairs and at Mount Clemens General Hospital (now McLaren Macomb) as the Director of Community and Corporate Services. She has also served as an Adjunct Faculty member in Health Services Administration at the University of Detroit Mercy and as the Director of Cardiology Services, the Life Trends Wellness Program at Mount Clemens General Hospital, and as an instructor at Baker College of Clinton Township. She was formally the Director of Business Development of the Southeast Michigan Chamber of Commerce.
Boards Served
Joie has been extremely active in the community. She served on the Board of Directors for Leadership Macomb from 2010 to 2018 and is currently on the board of the Macomb Health and Fitness Foundation. She was Board Chair for Creating a Healthier Macomb, formally on the Board of Directors and Board of Trustees for the American Red Cross, and is a founding member of the Prescription Resource Network, the indigent prescription medication program in Macomb County. She is currently a member of the Democratic Party, The Health Forum, The National Wellness Institute, the National Health and Wellness Club, the Association for Worksite Health Promotion, the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, the Michigan Society of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and the Association of Worksite Health Promotion among others. Joie was the founding and first Executive Director of the Healthier Macomb Fitness Council, which was part of the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports.
She currently serves on the following boards:

Publications
She has numerous publications and accomplishments for which she has received awards for. One such award is the 1998, 2001, and 2002 Gold Healthy Workplace Award for Mount Clemens General Hospital, received from the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness, Health, and Sports.
